Leigh Newton is a songwriter/guitarist/pianist from SA performing and writing largely for Christian contexts. He is back in music after many years as a primary school teacher.

Born in the union town of Broken Hill, Leigh’s songs often focus on the compassion, justice and a fair go for all. He played solo right around Australia and for many years played in the well known Australian bush band, Three Corner Jack.

Over the years he has released nine albums variously for adults and children, probably being most known around Australia for ‘Christmas In The Scrub’ which places the Christmas story firmly in Australian outback and town.  Its sequel, ‘Christmas in the Shed’, a more urban telling of the story, was published in 1999.

Leigh is part of the management of Bridgewater Arts Centre in the Adelaide Hills. Contact him if you’re interested in playing there.

On this site you’ll find a few album links to Bandcamp as well as a list of unpublished songs available variously in pdf (leadsheet, piano), YouTube and audio. Planning for the next album (as at July 2021) is underway.
