God at work in countless ways

Written for Rev Burton Everist at Grace Church, East Dubuque in the ELCA, Wisconsin USA. Rewritten to Australianise it, but you may not guess what I have changed.

Its about celebrating being church and how God acts amongst us.

  1. In each tender human touch,

In our reaching out

When we share God’s love

In each hand that welcomes in;

In our nurturing,

The yeast is rising, rising still.

Chorus

God at work in countless ways,

All the untold signs of caring.

What to do but be amazed

At how such grace flows through God’s children.

We are such unlikely ones,

Just wandering daughters, wayward sons,

But still we live and breath the grace of God

  1. When we feed the hungry one,

Clothe the naked one,

Heal the wounded one;

In each time we take the streets,

Singing songs for peace;

The yeast is rising, rising still.

  1. Every time God’s love is heard,

Every soothing word,

When our hope is shared.

When we walk that extra mile,

When we stop to smile,

The yeast is rising, rising still.

  1. Almost too big to believe,

God could plant a seed

Here in you and me.

Every time we speak of grace,

Lord we see your face;

The yeast is rising, rising still.
